Disneyland History Lesson

Here we are with the infamous George Lawson.

As a carpenter, George helped his friend Walt Disney build the Matterhorn back in 1959.

We met George while we were waiting to be called for our table at the all you can eat BBQ restaurant in Frontierland.

Get this, George shared with us this true story. The Matterhorn was too tall so the city of Anaheim gave Walt permission to build the Matterhorn as long as it was a built as a sports center. SO...Walt constructed a full size basketball court on the 2nd floor which is still there to this day.

He also said Walt made it very clear that everyone on the work site call one another by their fist name. He told George that He (Walt) worked harder than anyone on the job and everyone had to call him Walt and not Mr. Disney. Pretty Cool!

It was nice to meet George today. He is a Treasure!!! George made my Mom's Birthday complete! George was Gracious, Loving and Kind!

Say Hi to George the next time you are at Disneyland.

Smiles : )'s Chris
